Dick Idol’s motto is “Discover the Outdoors”. It really represents the artwork and craftsmanship in all of the Dick Idol Furniture pieces.

Dick Idol is one of America’s best-known authentic outdoorsman and wildlife artists.  Idol has created more than 30 bronze editions, published lithograph prints and completed two of the largest bronze mammal monuments in the world.  As a renowned hunter, lecturer, author, and artist, no one knows the outdoors like Dick Idol.

Mr. Idol has gained a solid reputation in the art world as well as the sporting community as an artist with the ability to capture the true personality and soul of his wildlife subjects.  His sculptures and paintings exhibit a unique old world style that has become his trademark.

Mr. Idol’s focus is on creating “outdoor” bronze monuments (some over 30 feet tall.) He has created and installed a three-times life-size monument for a Cabela’s store in Owatonna, MN and a four-times life-size monument for The American National Fish and Wildlife Museum in Springfield, MO.

Idol’s most recent commission is for the North Carolina State University  (NCSU) Wolfpack Club, a non-profit organization that provides scholarships for NCSU student-athletes. The almost 30-feet tall bronze monument, including six wolves on a mountain with dramatic water, lighting, and audio effects, is part of the university’s capital contribution campaign that is raising funds for an approximately $55 million renovation to Carter-Finley Stadium, home of the Wolfpack football team.

Although monument bronzes are his specialty, Mr. Idol also offers a full line of standard-sized bronzes, bronze bas-relief, cold cast sculptures, and flat art paintings sold as limited editions.  He is also available for commissions.

Discover a world of majestic glaciers and hallowed wilderness. Discover a passion for art, adventure, collecting, and the outdoors.  Discover how to bring the outdoors into your home… Discover Dick Idol

Painted Sky Designs at Rocky Mountain Decor

Painted Sky Designs began in 2003 in Dubuque, Iowa, with the idea that there was a market for incorporating fine art into outdoor furniture and accessories that were lifestyle specific. Since that time, we feel that we have redefined the “park bench.”

Our original small offering of horse and wildlife benches has now grown to more than 60 individual designs with over 200 product possibilities, and we are excited about the many new ideas and products to come.

All designs begin as small thumbnail drawings where layout details are worked out. I then create a full-size, detailed drawing of the proposed product where I refine the composition further. A sculpted 3D version is then created and used to make an aluminum mold. The mold is used to create an impression in sand, into which hot molten iron or aluminum is poured. When it has cooled, the surrounding sand is broken off leaving the metal casting. It is then dipped in a rust inhibitor and painted with a bronze powder coat finish, which is baked on. The final step is to apply hand painted gold highlights. All art is protected by world wide copyrights.

Rocky Mountain Decor is a proud carrier of these fine outdoor furniture products, shop here today!

Warmth That Only Hickory Can Give

Appalachian Rustic Furnishings came about as a small Georgia family turned a hobby into a successful business in 1987. Phil, Kathy and son Ryan slowly made their backyard past time a thriving furniture building dream. Appalachian Rustic Furnishings has been building rustic hickory furnishings for homes, lodges, and institutions across America for over two decades. Hickory saplings are harvested from atop the mountains and ridges of North Georgia, Southeast Tennessee, and Northwest Alabama.  These saplings are harvested in the winter months, when the sap is “down”, insuring that the natural bark will adhere to the piece indefinitely. These saplings are then kiln dried, treated for insects, and then steam bent into shapes and assembled into sturdy chairs, tables, beds, etc., all the while keeping their natural bark rustic appearance.  Whether you are furnishing a small mountain hideaway, an Adirondack cabin, or a big sky western ranch, Appalachian can help make your place have that special warmth only rustic hickory can give. For the month of March enjoy 20% off all Appalachian Rustic Furnishings from Rocky Mountain Cabin Decor, plus Free Shipping on purchases over $99!!

Stone County Ironworks- Withstanding Just About Anything

Recently there was a horrendous house fire.

Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the loss of property that night was overwhelming.

Everything was destroyed…almost.

Early the next morning as the sun filtered through blackened trees, the scene became clear. The flames were extinguished by then…dampened ashes still smoldered, and beautiful shapes began to emerge from the charred destruction.

Silhouetted eerily against the dense gray smoke, were the distinctive shapes of several Stone County Ironworks furniture and accessory pieces.  They still stood!  Why?  Because each piece was born by fire and work-hardened by the blows from an artisans hammer.

Several beautiful chairs, tables, candleholders, and beds stood proudly in their place as the rest of the home burned to the ground!

We were fortunate to retrieve them. After careful cleaning and straightening we were able to restore them as good as new…so that they could be returned to their owners.

The family had treasured these heirloom quality pieces for years before the fire. We can only imagine the stories that will accompany these wonderful treasures for generations to come!

At Stone County Ironworks we make iron the way it was crafted 150 years  before “green” became a clever marketing tool. Most of the energy expended is human. Our finish is non-toxic with no dangerous solvents or emissions…and it is baked hard, using natural gas…found in abundance nearby…here in Arkansas, the “Natural State.”
